Tara Woodall has been teaching English for fourteen years in Merced County. Currently she teaches Pre-AP English 2, but has previously taught freshmen, sophomore, and junior English; AP English Language and Composition, all grade levels of AVID, as well as Freshman Advisory.
In 2009, Tara attended the summer institute with the UC Merced Writing Project. She developed and presented her first professional development presentation on developing rhetorical awareness in young writers. Since then she has presented to a variety of audiences and a variety of topics ranging from writing instruction, use of digital mentor texts, and using technology in the classroom.
Before becoming a teacher and presenter, Tara worked at the UCLA library while she earned her Bachelor of Arts in American Literature and Culture. For those who are curious, she prefers Fitzgerald to Hemingway, loves the writings around the time of the Revolutionary War, and totally digs Mark Twain. After having a degree in American Literature for nearly 15 years, she decided to finally read The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne for the first time. Good stuff!
Predictably, she enjoys reading and has too many cats.
